Doctors In Training

We usually have with us a GP Registrar, who is a fully qualified doctor with three or four years of hospital experience and is completing his or her training, and we may have also final year medical students. Therefore from time to time there are student doctors, and young doctors in training, working at the practice. They work with the doctors here under appropriate supervision, and you may be offered an appointment with them, either on their own, or along with one of the practice's usual doctors. All of these doctors at some stage will video consultations for training purposes. Any such videotaped consultation is completely confidential, but will be reviewed by the training doctor. Though you always have the right to choose not to see these doctors/students, we hope you will work with us to help train the doctors of the future. Occasionally, one of these doctors may be sitting in on consultations, but again this only happens if your permission is obtained.

Practice Nurses

Consultations are by appointment only. Please ring reception for this. The nurses will do dressings, injections, holiday immunisations and take samples etc. Please do not see them if you really need to see the doctor, for example if you have a rash. Blood tests are now taken by a phlebotomist on Tuesday and Thursday mornings by appointment.

Health visitors are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health and health promotion. Wendy Beeley and Jane Edwards are the health visitors based at Albert Road and are available Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. An answerphone will take your message when they are unavailable.

District Nurses - Telephone Number: 01743 240447

District nurses team leader is Sandra Parkes.
The district nurses can be contacted on 01743 240447 between 8.30am and 5.00pm every day. Their service is for patients who are housebound.
